Every day I translate texts about the agricultural sector for FreshPlaza. FreshPlaza is an online publisher that publishes texts for this sector. I also take care of the texts for Primeur, the website’s monthly magazine. These texts are about growing fruit and vegetables, but also about the logistical side of trading these products. The texts contain much jargon, and are written for a very specific target audience.
I have proofread many applications for subsidies for Japanese artist Rei Kakiuchi.
I look over the English texts, and I make corrections if necessary. I also ask for clarifications about certain words used, or even paragraphs, if the meaning isn’t clear. This way, we work together to achieve a well written text.
Case Publishing is a publisher of Japanese photography books. I translated the descriptions of the books from English to Dutch for the Dutch website. The descriptions don’t just explain how the photos have been made, but also how the books have been bound. Although the texts aren’t very long, they contain many technical terms.
I’m a freelance translator from Rotterdam. I obtained my diploma as a Dutch-English translator from the Hogeschool West-Nederland. Since then I’ve been working for various customers who all come from different sectors, from the art to the agricultural sector. Because of this diversity of customers, I’ve gained much experience in meeting deadlines and the various requirements of texts.
